Solid-state-based quantum communication and metrology are currently among the fastest-growing research areas in physics. They hold the promise of exciting fundamental science and simultaneously enabling transformative industrial applications, ranging from quantum-mechanically secure information encryption and quantum sensing using single-photon emitters and higher-order photonic states, to advanced quantum information processing in photonic frame-works and the certified distribution of complex states.
The goal of this Research Training Group (RTG) is to combine innovative cutting-edge research in these dynamic areas of physics with excellent, structured training of particularly talented researchers in early career phases. To this end, the RTG combines the collective expertise of the two Clusters of Excellence —QuantumFrontiers and PhoenixD— at Leibniz University Hannover and builds a bridge between their distinct research directions. This bridge includes a coordinated, interdisciplinary collabo-ration between the experimental and theoretical research teams of both clusters.
